5。Lost art of Oneness

Lost art of Oneness

For this reason, Shitoukan have studied variety of traditional martial art and its Katas and have united the martial arts skills to seek the original form. As a result, one answer is that the original martial arts are not comprehensive, but rather are elements of unity in which techniques such as Atemi (strikes), Nage (throws), Kansetsu waza (joint submissions) and Katame (locking) are integrated and harmonized.

Therefore, the ancient martial artists before Meiji period and earlier did not mainly use the Atemi or add the Atemi to their techniques, but rather interpreted the Atemi to be part of various techniques, which led to the creation of our model of Wagou Kobujutsu, which is based on kumi-uchi technique delivered by Atemi (striking effect).

This ideology and path to restoration, makes the anecdotal detail more coherent and allow us to catch a glimpse of the art of the past, both in the unique movements of the martial arts and in the seemingly eccentric old kata that remain today.

Therefore, our Dojo’s Wago kobujyutsu Tegoi sets the principle on Atemi Kumiuchi Waza, that include Nage (throw), Kansetsu waza (joint submission) and Katame (locks), and everything else originating from Atemi (striking) dynamic to aim for the martial art of the olden days.
