14。BUIDOU

BUIDOU

As the existence of Judou Seifuku Shi license issued for Japanese Seitai or Judou Seifuku Jutsu healing method suggests, traditional medicine ties directly in to martial arts representing two sides of same coin relationship of yin and yang, with the yang representing Kappou ”活法" life giving method) used to resuscitate unconsciousness or Seihou (Martial art based bone setting method and medicine) used to heal injury and diseases, and yin aspect representing Sappou ”殺法" (life taking method) a generally known purpose of martial art.

This is not only because it is important to be able to heal injuries caused by martial arts on the spot, but because, in reverse, it is based on the yin-yang theory that in order to heal a person's body, it is necessary to know the opposite which is how to destroy with Sappou, the martial art for mastering Kappou the life giving method and Seihou (restoration method).

Therefore, the same manner, Chinese martial arts ties into oriental medicine and so as Hawaiian Lua  to Hawaiian traditional medicine called La’au lapa’au. Because of martial art and medicines power of life or death Yin and Yang relationship, historically, person holding both roles as medic and martial artist would treat patients with Seihou skill known as Hone Nuki (bone setting) or Suji Nuki (fascia setting), and Tsubo Chiryou (acupressure treatment) so Japanese quote suggesting Bu I Ryou Dou (to hold both paths for medical and martial art).

Though, in the extreme, yin and yang is really one, so at Shitoukan, in the pursuit of Monism instead of phrasing Bui Ryou Dou, we rephrase it as, “Bu I Ichigen”  meaning, Medical and martial art as one, which the spirit extends to the therapists, healer and doctors of Aloha medicine.
